This is the original Trans-Lux opening sequence from Speed Racer – not the one with lousy computer-generated titles (from the DVDs).

    this is the orignal american opening by trans lux. the opening most people know is the second verision

    wow! cool! I used to watch this show all the time when I was a kid on local independent stations (wow, does anyone remember those?)

    This is classic stuff.
    I also was a big fan of the Original 60′s Tom & Jerry…where they were always fighting.
    In 1974 or so they brought Tom and Jerry back as friends that helped each other and got along. The show was ruined.
    Just goes to show you can’t fool the original fanbase and there IS NO SUBSTITUTE for the Original Series. And that goes for Speed racer too ya know.

    wow they sped up the theme song when they edited it. i just now realized that…i mean, i like the new one that they have, but this one is CLASSIC, man!

    The soaring tenor “Adventure’s waitin’ just aheaaaad!” in this theme song was the epitome of cool…hey, I was 4. I still love it!

    the logo looks different when they updated it a bit. that was the classic series. the series they made now is bad. they only made a few different tv shows out of it, and they all suck

    i remember this show on wfld channel 32 chicago weekdays before ultraman and spectraman i still love the show

    Classic Speed racer…the way I remembered it in 1970!…right after Clubhouse 22 and before Ultraman on WKEF-TV in Dayton.

    Just the way I grew up with it. Thank you for sharing this. I think this was one of the best pieces of Japanese animation for the time, and the show is an all-time favorite of mine,

    I’m 16 and this is one of my favorite shows. I watched it when I was four, you could say I grew up on it. I also loved the movie, it was so uplifting, shame it bombed so badly.

    i know i watched the new series too but do you honestly think that anything could ever live up to the original series? so i at least gave it a shot with that in mind

    well, i only started watching it about a month ago! i didn’t watch it in kindergarten, and i didn’t have naps in kindergarten! but it is a good series. The new series, Speed Racer- The Next Generation, isn’t great. i mean, how could they make an AMERICAN Speed Racer? i mean, a movie is understandable, we all knew it was coming, but this is DUMB!!!it’s a crappily-animated show about Speed’s sons, Speed and X Racer, who go to a racing academy that’s headmaster happens to be Spritle Racer.
